Gone are the days that I could pop into H&M, grab an off-the-shelf bikini without even trying it on and head straight for Bora Bora, with the quiet confidence that I’ll look hot even if my bikini only cost me £12.99. I’m a little bit older now, a wee bit wobblier and a lot less cocky. So now, getting the perfect fit is everything. And designer detailing? Oh it helps. It really helps if you need that extra confidence boost on the beach.
I’ve been busy planning my holiday to Rome and the Amalfi Coast, and getting the perfect monokini is at the top of my list. But that’s not the only reason I’ve turned my fash radar to swimwear and beachwear; next month I’ll be managing my second swimwear photoshoot in Portugal so I have nothing but bikinis, one-pieces and cover-ups on the brain. During my comp shops and research, I stumbled across some amazing brands.
Here are some of my favourite ss14 pieces.
